The Society of Missionaries of St. Francis Xavier is an indigenous Society of the Catholic Church founded by Rev. Fr. Bento Martins in 1887 and reorganized in 1939. Headquartered in Goa, the Society serves in different states of India and abroad through educational, social, and pastoral ministries.
The Society manages numerous schools across India under the name St. Xavier's, inspired by our patron St. Francis Xavier, Our Lady of Pilar, and Fr. Agnel D'Souza.
In 1997, the Society began its mission in Arunachal Pradesh, dedicating itself to the upliftment of the poor and marginalized communities through education and service.
St. Xavier's School, Nampong was established in June 2000 with teachers recruited from Goa. It is an English-medium institution managed by the Society of the Missionaries of St. Francis Xavier (Society of Pilar), a Christian religious minority institution protected under Article 30(1) of the Constitution of India.
